Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog!!! Finally another post haha!
Ciao a tutti e bentornati nel mio blog!!! Finalmente un altro post haha!
In today’s post I would like to address something I’ve been “told off” about in the comments of my newest video.
Apparently, I speak too much English in my videos.
Apparentemente parlo troppo inglese nei miei video.
If I speak Italian, many people are not happy because they would like English too. If I speak English, many are not happy because they would like Italian too. If I speak both languages, people would like subtitles, and so on.
You know that pleasing everyone following my channel is hard work, but I’m definitely willing to do it.
Therefore, the aim of this blog post is finding a solution that works fine for everyone or, at least, the majority of you.
Lately I’ve been trying to balance the presence of Italian and English in my videos, alternating both languages. Have you found it useful or confusing? I think it works fine!
L’avete trovato utile o poco chiaro? Io credo che funzioni bene!
Let me know what you think is the best solution!
Fatemi sapere qual è la miglior soluzione secondo voi!
A presto :*
Lucrezia, as we say in my country of the United States: haters gotta hate. There are so many people on the Internet who complain and tell other people off as though they will get a prize for it. You are doing such a wonderful job with this blog. It has been a wonderful tool for me as I learn Italian. I have gone back to your videos to review things I have learned in class, or watch topics that are interesting. It’s really great for beginners. I have let my teachers know about your channel too and they really liked it too. Please be proud of the work that you have done sharing your language and culture with people who want to learn.
Honestly, I have no problems with the way you have been presenting any of the material. You always either repeat it in English or have subtitles. When you speak Italian, it’s very clear and slow enough that I can understand but not so slow that it is annoying.
My only suggestion? More Angelina! She is so cute! Have a great day and thank you again for everything that you do.
I personally like the all Italian videos although the translation helps whenever I don’t understand something. One tip I can give you is to record 2 videos : one all in Italian and another all in English. I know it’s hard, so it’s just an idea. Thanks for everything. I’ve learned a lot from you.
Grazie 🙂
Ciao Lucrezia
I cannot thank you enough for your teaching of Italian therefore I personally think that a balance of English and Italian is a must in order to learn vocabulary and sentence structure. If everything was in Italian I would be put off as my ability of Italian is not fluent . Why would those who speak Italian wish for you to film in Italian ??
Ti ringrazio
Stephen Curtis
I will just say to you, thank you for your passion and endeavor.(Verri parlarti solo che ringrazio per la tua passione e il tuo sforzo. Ciao! Ciao! Francesco.
Lucrezia
I love your videos, especially when you use both languages. I can learn best that way and the pronunciation is really important as well as the text. Brava!
I completely agree with everything Elizabeth from the US said. Your videos are fantastic, you are so natural and I personally find the speed of your speech in italian is just right. I would not manage if it was all in italian as I am stil way too slow. When you write your blog in italian and english, that is really really helpful. It always throws up questions for me as I am still at the “why is it like this” stage, lol. Please, please, dont stop the dual language, You cant and wont please everyone !
,
Voglio i tuoi posts e videos. Ti ringrazie.
they should shut up and be thankful you are trying to help us all learn for free! keep up your good work!

Brava Julie! Right on.
Ciao Lucrezia.
I’d like to say I love your videos.
It’s amazing learn about italian culture and language with you.
You’re very kind but, pleasing everyone is not only hard. It’s impossible!!
In watching your videos my goal is to learn italian, so I’d like to listen you speaking italian as much as possible.
However, I’m brazilian and speak portughese. So, italian doesn’t seem too difficult for me.
In any case, maybe the subtitles be the best solution.
Grazie mille.
Secondo me, l’hai fatto benissimo, ti ringrazio per tutto! Continua cosi !!
Tu e’ miravigliosa Lucrezia. Non so dove voi saremmo senza te. 😊
Ciao Lucrezia. I tuoi video sono molto istruttivi. Non è possibile a accontentare tutti. Mai. Secondo me, se ti piace a te, è perfetto! Ciao, Cristina
You’re doing a great job, and I think you should proceed in a manner that feels right and works best for YOU.
That said, what works best for our group is when you speak in Italian, but have English subtitles. The type of subtitles that can be turned on and off that you have written (not the auto-generated ones).
That way we can learn by listening, and we can also check our comprehension by reading along as you talk, if necessary. We have found that by going over and over a video this way, back and forth, is really helpful.
It seems like you did this for a while.
You are doing a fabulous job and my learning experience would not be the same without you. I’m glad to know that you know pleasing everyone is impossible. There will always be those people who love to complain. You only need to keep on being the fabulous you that you are. I totally appreciate your bilingual approach. Because, unless I can get myself into a totally immersed place (Italy), I think it will take years and years to understand fast spoken Italian.
As someone said, pleasing everyone is a key to failure. Just tell them “my way or the highway” as we say it here in Nu Yok 😀
Just do what you do, imho
Ciao, cara Lucrezia
Va bene cosi!
Your videos are brilliant, don’t change a thing ! I have learned so much from watching them and the balance of English and Italian is perfect. Grazie
Thank you Lucrezia
I enjoy using your videos as part of my lesson plan for learning Italian. You can not please everyone. Currently I prefer listening to videos that are in Italian with a script in Italian so I can translate. Keep making videos for different levels as you have done in the past.
Grazie
Andrew
You’re doing well. Here’s no need to change anything.
Thank you for your effort! Keep going!
I’m sorry to be late responding to this topic but I’d like to add my input. Lucrezia!!! Grazie mille, grazie mille, grazie mille!!!! You are unique on the internet. You are friendly and easily understood. Those of us who are beginners truly appreciate that you speak slowly enough and distinctly enough for us to have a chance to understand. It is very discouraging when others jabber on as if they are speaking to natives. I do not do that to people who don’t speak English!! ANYway … what I find most helpful is when you have the English words over your Italian speaking. I can STOP the video and try to translate it on my own and then get the correct translation. You did this on your Italian Colazione video. (I saw if on the Everybody Loves Italian FB page.) At my stage (A2), it is not helpful to hear “lessons” just in Italian. How would I EVER understand reflessivi verbi???!!! 😉 I have been under the impression that your primary audience is beginners or perhaps some early intermediate. If so, I hope your focus will remain on helping us which means including English. If more advanced students would like Italian-only, perhaps they could request those topics and you could choose and then INDICATE that the video is at “X” level. Please, please, please … you are sooooo wonderful and helpful … please don’t leave us behind. Tanti abbracci!!! ~leendah

Ciao Leendah!! I won’t leave you behind, I promise 😀 Thank you so much for you comment!
It is hard to please everybody if not impossible.I think your videos are fine the way they are. Thanks for everything, you are such a nice person.Ci vediamo la prossima volta.
Thank you so much 🙂
Ciao Lucrezia,
First, i wanna thank you for your videos you are one of my teacher i really learned from them.
Now, i think you should taking Italian and translate to English because we need listen to Italian
but, i always can’t understood without English language.
i really really appreciate your work and help us to learn italian.
Saluti da Egitto
Thank you, Nada!
Tu sei perfetta! Brava 🙂 mi piace molto…Cambia niente.
Ciao Anna, grazie!
Lucrezia, I love your vlogs. I think people forget that you are unable to target ALL Italian learners. Intermediate learners want less English and beginner learners want more English. Do what makes YOU feel good. You won’t please everyone. Give Roma my love!
Thank you, Andrea!!!
I don’t think you could do much more than to include ENG-IT or ITALIAN to the title of your videos in order to inform the viewers.
That’s right 🙂
I enjoy them the way they are. Christine (Australia) On 18/09/2015 9:06 PM, “Learn Italian with Lucrezia” wrote: > > LucreziaOddone posted: “Hey everyone and welcome back to my blog!!!
